Marketing Magic: What is the most valuable marketing advice you picked up at KnowledgeFest? How are you going to implement it when you get back to your store? “The sales training with the guys from Avidworx changed

what we’re doing at our new store. They covered how to set your store up, how to do an effective demonstration as far as your presentation. You’re in here 90 hours a week, and the Avidworx guys said when you walk in and take a picture of your store, it’s what people see. So, take a picture and study it. If this or that looks out of place, fix it. All those things made sense.” Micah Williams, Sonus Car Audio, Clarksville, Tenn.

“I went to KnowledgeFest last year and I could put it in

two words: Del Ellis. The main factor is closing techniques. You get back caught up in normal selling techniques, don’t think about these little tidbits when you can save time, talk to customers in a nice way … take them out to the car, let them touch things. These things matter. That one thing you decided not to do could be the difference between a person walking out or making a $3,000 sale.” Justin Everson, Extreme Audio, Mechanicsville, Va.

“I would say most relevant, that isn’t new to me, is to have

a website. Many places don’t have websites, or have sites be- low par. I think it’s definitely important to utilize the Internet. I heard at one of the tracks that 90 percent of consumers are researching the product on the Internet. The biggest thing is you want them to come to your facility, to get some face time with them. You have to get them off the computer or the phone. The main way to do that is to have a great website.” Joshua Landau, JML Audio, Fenton, Mo.

“I went to the Art of the Demo track. One of the amazing things about it was, while sitting there in the class, some of the things were either a direct answer to the questions I already had or something I’ve been thinking about. I came back and started implementing some things right away. I had some plans in mind, trying to organize the bay, because we do a lot of long-term proj- ects here. I always thought it would be a good idea to get some dry-erase boards so we could write down details of the job. It was something I always thought about doing but haven’t implemented. We put up the whiteboards, we put up some more signage to show other services we offer and made a new vehicle checklist. I had a

list on my iPad and got most of the things done. “ Jon Kowanetz, Handcrafted Car Audio, Mesa, Ariz.
