rings turn easier than others. As we get older, many of us in the shooting community fi nd we have lost fi nger strength from arthritis, past injuries, or other medical conditions, making turning those pesky scope rings more diffi cult every year. There are certain situations where

being able to easily and quickly change a scope’s magnifi cation can be a real bonus, and shooting three gun com- petitions or calling predators come to mind. Taking the strain off older fi ngers and joints and giving additional leverage when making a power change, the Switchview Lever from Mike Gibson Manufacturing is one of those handy little accessories you didn’t

know you needed until you got one. Originally designed by Travis Gibson for three gun competitions where the ranges of carbine/rifl e shots can vary greatly and one is shooting against the clock, the aluminum Switchview Lever clamps over the scope’s power ring. It thus provides an easily grasped protrusion for quickly changing the scope’s magnification to deal with changing conditions and target ranges. As well as providing leverage, which makes turning the power ring much easier, the Switchview also allows a shooter to conveniently make power changes while in position behind the gun. Mounted on a calling rifl e, the Switchview would provide a coyote hunter with the same advantages. For those of us with older hands, the benefi t of the Switchview’s added leverage to the power ring is obvious. The lever seems to work well whether the shooter is right- or left-handed. Initially made for the tactical-type

variable power scopes commonly seen on the three gun circuit, the Switchview lever is now available for many scopes often found on hunting rifles – the ubiquitous Leupold VX-III series being the most notable. At $59.95, the Switch- view lever is currently available direct from Mike Gibson Manufacturing or from Dillon Precision. There are a lot of scopes out there in the marketplace and the folks at MGM are rapidly expand- ing the models of Switchview levers to fi t more of them every day. Check the website for lever/scope compatibility and reviews as well as dimensions and clearances. MORE ON TROPHY ART Thomas Tabor’s article “Varmint
