Being essentially a custom shop, they usually can match whatever stock style and confi guration the customer is look- ing for. These can cover a broad spec- trum of stock materials including: vari- ous synthetic composites, laminates, wood, or aluminum. The company also manufactures and sells Picatinny rail systems to fi t their actions and a couple of different style muzzle brakes. Competitive benchrest shooters will be happy to know that on a special order basis right-ejection/left- feed models are available. The actions are all push-feed designed and come in either single-shot or magazine-fed re- peater styles. The completed rifl es from Snowy Mountain are aluminum pillar bedded for enhanced accuracy; they possess match grade hand-lapped bar- rels specifi c to the customer’s desires; come standard with Timney Model 510 triggers adjustable from 1.5 to 4 pounds pull (a Jewell trigger also is available); all barrels come with 11-degree target muzzle crowns; and most rifl es and actions can be upgraded to include a detachable magazine. The most com- mon barrels used by the company are the high-quality ones produced by Lilja, Pac-Nor, Shilen, and Krieger, but most any manufacturer’s barrel is available upon request. The muzzle brakes pro- duced and used by Snowy Mountain are CNC machined from 416 stainless steel or 4140 chrome-moly steel. These units are top ported in order to keep muzzle jump down to a minimum and as such will greatly improve the speed at which a shooter can get back on target after the initial shot has left the barrel. With the installation of a Snowy Mountain brake on your bar- rel you can expect a reduction in felt recoil by approximately 50 percent over that produced by a non-ported barrel. These brakes can be purchased and fi t- ted to a custom-built Snowy Mountain rifl e, or they are available to purchase separately. If not fi tted by the Snowy Mountain craftsmen, however, the services of a qualifi ed gunsmith will be necessary for the installation. In order to install one of these brakes it fi rst must be reamed to the proper bore diameter, faced, indexed, and blended or tapered to match the barrel. Currently, Snowy Mountain muzzle brakes are available in the outside diameters of 0.750", 0.825", 1.00", and 1.125". All receivers used by Snowy
