even tighter at 0.361 inch. Because nearly every target round shares a similar bullet nose design, I was concerned as to how much accuracy I would lose from changing the bullet’s shape. I knew there would be some, but I wasn’t sure just how much to expect. Starting with the hollow-point modifi cation, the groups

measured out to 0.380 inch and 0.405 inch. This is enough of a change to make a target shooter cringe, but still accurate enough to yank a tree squirrel off its branch. The modifi ed hollow-point nose did maintain the same POI when compared with the factory ammunition. With the same process as before, I ran the fl at-nosed

bullets through the test and right away I could see a com- mon problem showing up again, and that was a little more vertical deviation on the modifi ed ammunition. It was not terrible, but enough to slightly degrade the accuracy in the following pair of 10-shot groups. The large fl at-nose on the bullets bites into the wind more so than the round-nose bul- let design, and any change in direction or even velocity will become magnifi ed on target. ELEY CLUB MEDIUM TESTING

There was little excitement with the performance of the

modifi ed Club ammunition. The factory load poked through three blocks, coming to stop approximately 5½ inches in depth. There was just a slight amount of deformity to the bullet’s nose. This is about what I had expected from a round- nose bullet, and while deadly, it just isn’t ideal for hunting. The hollow-point cavity did cause signifi cantly more damage to the target with much more pronounced surface splash and

destruction within the fi rst 2 inches of travel, with the hollow point peeling back and shearing from the bullet base. The total penetration depth with the hollow-point modifi cation was 3¼ inches. Centering up the crosshairs on the next block, I was a

bit surprised to see the fl at-nose Eley bullet thump the block with a good impact, and upon inspection inside, I could see
