The Marianne H. Zirkle Parent Volunteer Award ~ Karen Ahern and Charlotte Zeithaml

Te Marianne H. Zirkle Parent Volunteer Award is given in memory of a former parent at St. Anne’s-Belfield who, through her caring and affable personality, enthusiastic spirit, and fondness for this school, epitomized the true meaning of a volunteer.

On countless occasions, she brought to life that “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. Tey have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts.” Donning her spectacular and captivating costumes, our thespians stepped out of themselves and into their roles on stage, where they brought their characters to life. In addition to her impressive work with our performing arts program, she served for five years as a Grade-Level Representative or Division Coordinator and has been actively involved with the school’s fundraising efforts, most notably, as a member of the Campaign for Our Next Century Parents’ Committee and the Committee that secured the necessary funding for our new Black Box Teater. For her quiet and understated presence and her many and varied contributions, St. Anne’s- Belfield School honors and offers its sincere appreciation to Charlotte Zeithaml.

Aſter 48 “student years” at St. Anne’s-Belfield School, she leaves us a better school. Few individuals have held as many volunteer roles at St. Anne’s-Belfield School – seven years as a Grade-Level Representative or Division Coordinator, Vice President and President of the Parents’ Association, leadership positions with two auctions, Co-Chair of our LINK Program, Supermarket Program Coordinator and, most recently, President of the STAB Boosters. When she identified an important need for our school community, she led an effort to pur- chase and install AED units on both of our campuses. Trough the years, as a staunch supporter of our academic, athletic, and arts program, she has actively participated in all facets of the St. Anne’s-Belfield School experience. With reverence and tremendous gratitude, the 2011 Marianne H. Zirkle Award is presented to Karen Ahern.
