ARTS REPORT Visual Arts
Te visual art department’s work speaks for itself. From our Kindergarten classrooms, to our advanced students completing continuing studies courses in painting and drawing, to our photography studios, our students have a knack for creatively capturing what inspires them. With the completion of new art facilities on both of our campuses, our students enjoy ample space to pursue their passions, and oſten come to work on pieces before or aſter school. "It becomes a labor of love for them," said Art Teacher Kim Cox. "I enjoy watching my students get started on their projects and seeing them fall in love with them."
Particularly engaged in their passion for art are our Upper School photography students. Under the careful direction of Janet Moore- Coll, who received the Lossie N. Wilkinson Teacher Award this year, students fan out across the school and the city to fulfill their assignments. “My goal," said Moore-Coll, "is to have my students send me wonderful Christmas cards that they have created from their photos years from now.”
Her comments speak to the lasting impressions that our arts faculty have on our students.
