Living on campus is an important aspect of a college education. Residence halls are more than just dorms or places to study and sleep. They are places where students develop meaningful


explore new ideas and get involved with the university community. Living in campus housing provides the opportunity to learn how to balance the academic and social aspects of life at DePaul. However, residents are reminded that living in campus housing is a privilege, not a right.

This privilege requires that certain standards of behavior be

maintained by all residential students and their guests. Residents should read and understand the policies and procedures governing campus housing that are included in this guide. Student Housing policies and procedures exist in order to give the entire residential community the opportunity to fulfill academic, social and personal goals.

Living successfully on campus is contingent upon balancing individual freedoms with sensitivity to and respect

for the rights of others.

A willingness to discuss, negotiate and compromise is essential. Individual differences make up the unique texture of the residence halls, and students are encouraged to learn from one another. Living on campus is a learning process that builds character and focuses on life lessons. Living on campus is an integral part of the educational experience that helps students form lasting friendships and that contributes to academic achievement and interpersonal development.


By choosing to live in a DePaul University residence, you agree to abide by all DePaul University policies, including the Code of Student Responsibility and the policies and procedures detailed in this guide. Failure to abide by any of these policies and procedures may result in appropriate discipline, in accordance with established procedures, up to and including dismissal from the halls or the university and/or financial penalties. DePaul University reserves the right to change its policies or procedures maintained herein at any time, provided such changes are announced, for example, through official bulletin boards, office publications, mailings to residential students or information posted on our website. In the event of discrepancies between this document and the Terms and Conditions of the Housing Agreement, the Guide to Student Housing shall supersede the Housing Agreement.
