Upgrading Economy
Delta Air Lines is selling its new upgraded Economy product on transatlantic flights for a supplement of $80 to $140 (£50-£99) each way. Diamond and Platinum members of the airline’s frequent flyer programme plus those who buy full fare economy tickets get the upgrade for free and gold and silver members are offered the seats at a discount. The ‘Economy comfort’ seats are roomier
than standard economy with a 50% greater recline and four inches more legroom. The new seats are at the front of the economy cabin; passengers paying the supplement are the first to board and are served complimentary alcoholic drinks. Special covers are placed on the ‘Economy comfort’ seats, but the inflight service is the same as standard Economy.
