Classic Christmas

UK-based frozen ready meal company, Classic Cuisine, has launched its new range of Christmas meals for the foodservice and catering industry. After feedback from clients and evaluating from the last festive season the chefs have come up with more individual portion meals and less of the generic sliced meat in gravy. The range includes Duck Confit, Beef

Wellington and a vegetarian option of Brie and Redcurrant Tart and Chestnut and Fennel Roast. Classic’s two turkey meals are Turkey Tornados, turkey breast pieces shaped into a tornado shape wrapped in streaky bacon and topped with a sage and cranberry stuffing and Turkey Lattice, turkey breast pieces, bound together and topped with a sage and cranberry stuffing, encased in a rich puff pastry lattice. Say Jeeva Sanmugam md of Classic Cuisine:

“Our range of Christmas products is based on traditional festive dishes with a twist. We believe that our secret to success is a combination of being innovative but also ensuring a home made feel to our dishes. Our development chefs are extremely focused and attention to detail is paramount when it comes to adding the twist to each dish.” www.classiccuisine.co.uk

New mood lighting has been introduced into the Premium Economy cabins of Virgin Atlantic’s latest A330 aircraft. Research into the lighting conducted by Virgin Atlantic alongside architectural lighting experts DHA found that apricot is the most flattering for skin tones, whilst yellow causes people to lose their tempers more often and makes babies cry. Pink is seen as a relaxing, tranquil colour and red is the most emotionally intense and stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. The lighting, which has been designed by

DHA, changes colour throughout the flight to help passengers relax and unwind, fall asleep and even adjust time zones whilst the new soft apricot filter on the reading lights makes people look more attractive during their long- haul flight. A soft ‘rose champagne’ colour has been chosen to de-stress passengers whilst encouraging them to relax into their journey. This then changes into ‘purple haze’ which is designed to be cosy and comfortable before transforming into ‘amber warmth’ which creates a candlelight environment for passengers whilst dining. To help passengers drift into a deep sleep, ‘silver moonlight’ is introduced to reflect a starry night sky. www.virginatlantic.com
