Sleepless
A surprise appearance by the sleep-deprived Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan would not go amiss at the Washington State Convention Centre in Seattle, where the star-studded IFSA, APEX and Aircraft Interiors Expo event takes off this month. The jam-packed agenda promises topical and lively debate from top-line speakers representing, among others, Boeing, Airbus, British Airways and Alaska Airways. Across the three
halls exhibitors will cover every aspect of the aviation industry, ranging from cabin interiors to movie distributors; from f&b suppliers to caterers. It has also not gone unnoticed, ten years on from 9/11, that we are beginning to
see a resurgence of confidence throughout the industry, with healthy investment in both onboard product and new hardware. To date, Airbus has received a total of 236 orders for the A380 with 53 of those already in operation. Moreover, Boeing’s much-anticipated 787 Dreamliner has finally rolled out of its hangar, not a long way down the road from the show. Whatever airlines are doing to attract more business in this competitive world,
we are reminded by one of our contributors: “While the ticket price is important, thanks to the likes of Google and Facebook, passengers are also comparing the comfort of the seat, the quality of the meal and the age of the film.” We look forward to seeing you for a full-on agenda in Seattle.
