Global growth for P&P Projects

With several high-profile projects under its belt already in 2011, P&P Projects continues on its quest to develop the world’s most unique and innovative themed environments

AFTER recently completing much-anticipated installations at Efteling Park in the Netherlands and Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, Dutch theming group P&P Projects continues to work on several innovative projects around the world. The company, which provides quality turnkey theming solutions to the

world leisure industry, was recently involved in the production of a new children’s visitor centre for the Roshen chocolate and candy manufacturing company in the Ukraine. “The attraction in the city of Vinnitsa has been more successful than

anticipated and we hope to start working on a larger version, which is planned for the capital, Kiev, in August,” said P&P founder Philipp van Stratum. In addition to the Roshen centre, P&P has been responsible for the

theming and scenic works throughout the entire interior of the newly-opened Madame Tussauds waxworks museum in Vienna, Austria. Van Stratum said that the group’s previously successful work in Germany with Merlin Entertainments helped the two companies further their relationship and develop a truly unique attraction. In April, meanwhile, Walibi World in the Netherlands re-launched

its popular Vekoma Boomerang coaster. In co-operation with operator Compagnie des Alpes, P&P was responsible for the restyling and theming of

the new coaster, which has been renamed Speed of Sound. This totally new rebranding has brought the coaster up to date, in line with the park’s other iconic rides. “We were contacted by Walibi/CDA around August last year to work on the

re-launch of the coaster, which had not been in operation for approximately five years,” van Stratum said. “The rebranding revolved around the story of two rivalling kangaroo brothers, Walibi and Squad. “The brothers find a map that leads them to a mysterious place peopled

with fantastic creatures. In this parallel world where magic reigns, Walibi and Squad experience the freedom of playing music. The ride is propelled by sound and as such the station is equipped with an odd-looking music machine and large speakers.” Looking ahead, P&P is currently working on the high-profile, soon-to-

be-opened Van Helsing’s Factory dark ride in Movie Park, Germany. The company delivered the conceptual design and detailing of Van Helsing’s Factory, indoor attractions and the storyline of the ride itself. “We are also working on various

bigger and smaller projects,” added van Stratum. “Unfortunately, many cannot be announced yet, but I can say that we are currently working on a zoo project and a national nature museum.”
