Aquacircus debuts at Brazilian waterpark
WATERPLAY giant Empex Watertoys has delivered a new Aquacircus attraction to a new area within the Beachpark Acqua Resort in Fortaleza, north-eastern Brazil. South America’s largest waterpark now includes the
12,000sq.ft Aquacirco Zone. The site includes 170 different water events and spray features on a colourful, non- slip surface and looks set to be a main draw for Brazil’s increasingly affluent consumer base. For the project, Empex installed its latest interactive
concept, Aquacircus. The water playground incorporates a large climb and slide curvilinear Aquadek with a series of interactive Aquanetics features, allowing children to play with all manner of water experiences, including sprays, jets, spinning pelton wheels, pin wheels and rotors. “Climbing and sliding from a variety of open slides and
tube slides tops off the fun on this water play structure,” said Wyeth Tracy, president of the Canada-based group. “Aquatons spray features, interactive Watertoys, Aquajets and zany clowns called Aquaclunes spray water in all directions for a madcap circus of water fun. “Specifically designed for use in chlorinated water, the
structures are fabricated from composite and speciality plastics offering superior qualities with respect to electrical and heat conductivity and offer a lifetime warranty against corrosion.” In other company-related news, Empex recently
completed a rooftop water playground at the Nex mixed use leisure and retail destination in central Singapore, and the group will complete another Aquacircus installation for the Ilica Resort in Cesme, Turkey, in June of this year.
New Sea Life attraction opens in Venice
A NEW Sea Life aquarium designed by UK architects Kay Elliott has opened in Venice, Italy. The attraction is the 34th and latest Sea Life centre
and marine sanctuary project to be developed by Merlin Entertainments Group. The 2,030sq.m, £7m (US$11.5m) attraction is arranged
over two floors, holding more than 150,000 gallons of water and accommodating more than 5,000 sea creatures. According to Kay Elliot, the architecture and positioning
on the site gives the impression to visitors that they are entering all the stages of life underwater with the centre providing an interactive, inspirational and educational child’s guide to life beneath the waves. Phil Webber, Kay Elliott’s lead
designer on the project, said: “We hope that the thousands of people who visit Venice every year will see the centre as a major attraction for the region which is synonymous with the sea and water. “It has been designed as a place where
families can bring their children to learn about underwater life through a mix of natural and fantasy environments.”

Waterplay launches new ground sprays
AQUATIC play group Waterplay Solutions Corporation has added eight new ground sprays to its portfolio. According to the Canadian company, each of the new
products has a distinct look and most can be interchanged with other Waterplay ground sprays to add new life to older play pads. For toddlers, the Buttercup sprays three thick, soft
streams to roughly 2ft high, while the Tower Spray, Fountain Mountain and Confetti Spray all have a tall, vivacious trajectory. For sprays that reach wide instead of high, the company
has released Charlotte’s Web, which streams outward like a spider’s web, and Starlet Spray which looks like a star from
above and appears to be woven strands of water from the side. Distinctly unique is the Luminary Spray which lights up the water stream - in blue, green, red and white - as either a steady colour or in a rotating fashion.
