belts to carry ammunition in a way that is predictable and repeatable and this month I will be extending the last article to cover more exotic ways of carrying ammunition, including ammunition mounted on the gun itself, and methods for those with large capacity magazines in Open Division which we will look at first... For those unfamiliar with Open Division in IPSC shooting, it is the division where you are allowed to use almost any modification to the gun and also use mechanically advantageous methods of carrying and loading ammunition. I won’t go into all the nuances here or it would take up the article, but as you can see from Figure 1 – the magazine extension tube on


the Remington 1187 extends far beyond the end of the barrel and allows a competitor to start a stage with a lot more ammunition in their gun.


Speed Loaders As you can see from Figure 1, the gun has had a modification to the loading port with the fitting of the triangular shaped aluminium piece. This is there as a guide for a Speed loader.


A speed loader is a simple mechanical device to allow multiple individual rounds to be loaded in a fast, predictable manner. At the bottom of Figure 1 are the two black plastic
