The superb layouts are equipped with 72 Mattarelli traps and offer impressive facilities for clay shooters of all abilities. These include

computer-controlled

scoring, trap sequencing, acoustic release on all layouts and covered stands. The pavilion overlooks the stands and is a great location to watch what is going on whilst enjoying a cuppa and a bite to eat. There’s plenty of parking as well as disabled access.

Your Scribe - just to say hello when you see me around

Gosh, where has the year gone? It’s July already and the Imperial meeting has started (Note to self to get off the couch and load some ammo!). Both military and civilian service rifle events are taking place as I write and the schools will be here soon as well. Full report will be in next months’ article. I was a little stuck on what to write about this month when I realised that I haven’t said anything about our clay facility, the National Clay Shooting Centre. This great facility is the perfect place to try clay shooting for the first time, brush up on some existing skills, or simply enjoy yourself watching others trying to hit the clays – try being the right word if I’m out there!

The centre offers world-class facilities for all shooting disciplines, as well as playing host to numerous international competitions.

The centre can offer lots of disciplines including English Skeet, Olympic Skeet, Olympic Trap, Down The Line, Automatic Ball Trap, Double Trap and Universal Trap. They also have a training lay- out and tuition is available at all levels from beginner to experienced. You do not need a shotgun or license to shoot when under tuition there as guns are

provided on lessons and all tuition is on a one to one basis. However at all other times you must provide your own guns and be licensed although you don’t have to be a member to shoot there (It’s just cheaper to be a member!).

They also do group packages if you fancy doing something different for a celebration. For more information including opening hours and prices, logon to their re-vamped website www.nsc- clays.co.uk or email info@nsc-clays.co.uk.

I’m hoping to include match reports from the clay centre in the future, so watch this space.
