The Benchmark - Rimfire & Air Rifle Benchrest News


We have just under a month before the UK team will be ‘winging’ its way to the good old USA, for the Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest World Championship in Summerville.


There are some new faces to the team, but some familiar ones as well. We have all been practicing. In fact practicing, practicing, practicing and I know many are on good form, aiming for that elusive gold.


Having competed recently in the north of England I have utmost confidence in the team.


One thing about this event, being in the south of the USA, during the summer - the weather will be hot, humid and very interesting. For us in the UK we do not have much chance to shoot in this type of weather, so some are going early to acclimatise to the conditions. Good advice, as this championship will make a lot of people think!!


Familiar faces going for gold


However, we are all shooting the same conditions and most of all it will be fun. It has to be as this is another reason why we are all going. To see a few mates we have not seen for a while, have a laugh (probably at our own expense) and maybe, just maybe to have a beer or two at the end of what will be long shooting days. A working holiday…… maybe!!


Most of the UK team are shooting six matches of three targets per match, so by the end of the event we will be....... how can I say this....... a bit
