Down the Line
even if only trying to beat last years’ score. The atmosphere on camp is great and the clubs are buzzing in the evenings. Although the TR & MR matches really need to be booked in advance to avoid late entry fees there are plenty of other competitions that can be entered right up to the day of the event.
The Historic Arms Events take place between 9th and 10th July and are entirely ‘in the spirit of the original’. There are matches for everything from pre 1874 flintlock and percussion muzzle loaders through to post 1946 veterans.
The Pistol and Gallery Rifle Events are on between 13th and 17th July. Air pistol, lightweight sport rifle, both small-bore and centre-fire gallery rifle as well as muzzle loading pistols are represented here with a wide variety of trophies and medals up for grabs. I really like the idea of the unlimited entry events, keep re-entering until you get a good enough score!
The Schools Veterans Match is on the 14th July and is for teams of 5 ‘old boys’ from schools. So if you are still in touch with your old school chums why not have a go!

There are still places available for Target Rifle, Target Shooter
Match Rifle and F Class events, for information contact
Karen@nra.org.uk but late entry fees apply to these matches.
Looking forward to August, the Gallery Rifle National Championships are being held on 27th to 28th August. This is a similar format to the Action Weekends and the Phoenix and is predominantly for gallery rifles and long barreled revolvers and pistols. Competitions include Multi-Target, Advancing Targets, 1500 Match, Timed and Precision and the Speed Steel Challenge. Might even have a go at this one myself now I have my LBP – in glorious technicolour of course (well, metallic purple)
Must sign off now otherwise I’ll miss the deadline.
Hope to see lots of you around Bisley over the next few weeks. If you see me around, please say Hi!
Good Shooting Heather Webb
