With this gun being smaller in size, the overall weight from the factory is around 51 ounces. Add a mount and scope, red dot on the side, and whatever else you choose, and the weight goes up … as expected. However, it is still compact and easy to put into operation for plink- ing or varmints/small game within the effective ranges of .22 LR ammunition. Observations: When it comes to

velocities, there is not a big spread be- tween how fast the various .22 caliber bullets leave the muzzle from short or longer barrels. What makes a big differ- ence between the two is that it is much easier to steady the rifle offhand vs. the pistol, and we all understand how that works. This is why I originally mounted a 1 power scope on the pistol. Then, af- ter firing a few hundred rounds at steel targets at a local range, I put on a 2-6x scope. With it cranked up to the highest power, I got more consistent hits at lon- ger ranges. This was especially true off a rest, such as a fence post. For rapid fire shots at 25 yards and closer, the Crimson Trace laser or Burris Red Dot worked exceptionally well. Like the rimfire carbine version,

a 10-shot magazine, thinking it would be shorter. It was not since it came out when the rifle did so to be compliant in those few states with such restrictions. Therefore, that magazine did not solve the problem. This was simply a long 25-shot magazine that was modified so only 10 rounds could be loaded into it. Now (as I write this) it is November 2010 and Matt Rice at Blue Heron Com- munications notified me that what I had originally desired is now available — a short 10-round magazine. I immediately

called my dealer who checked with his suppliers. These magazines are now in stock so the order was placed. Just be sure that when you order one, you order the truly “short” version and not the long version that merely holds 10 rounds. It is product No. 19924! There are some differences, and whaT makes iT a pisTol Instead of a stock at the rear of the

lower receiver there is an attachment for a sling. If you don’t want to use it, it is easily removed or simply ignored.

both firearms were accurate and reli- able. To help assure reliability, when I received these guns I took them apart, thoroughly cleaned them by soaking the parts, reassembled everything, and fired a few hundred rounds. Cleaned them again and then began my testing. From all that I can state that these are some of the best AR rimfire firearms on the market today.
