Strictly English at $300 to opt out of .xxx! Scala

Scala UK has announced that it will be distributing the latest DVD titles from Strictly English films. The new deal will commence with the release of ‘Divorce or Discipline’ and ‘Student Teacher’, both of which are out now. Scala says that Strictly English produces the highest quality amateur spanking titles, featuring some of the genre’s most popular performers, including Amelia Jane Rutherford in ‘Student Teacher’. Scala’s Clive Gore said: “We always had a strong demand for Strictly English titles and, following the demise of Mebray, we are pleased to be associated with the re-birth of the brand. As well as the back catalogue, the two new titles are available now from our Cash ‘n’ Carry facility, just five minutes away from the NEC.” For further information call Scala on 01675 430300 or visit www.scaladvd.co.uk

On the 16th of May, costs for end users to opt-out of .XXX were revealed. The price to protect a non-adult trademark or name from being listed as a .XXX by anyone else will be anything up to $300. IPRota, the company responsible for implementing the pre-launch rights protection mechanism of .XXX, have also released timing information for the .XXX opt-out period, known as ‘Sunrise B’.

This will begin in September 2011

and run for about a month, giving trademark owners a window to protect themselves from having their brand or business names ‘hijacked’ by someone wanting Xbox.XXX, for example. According to the IPRota white paper,

entitled ‘Taking Control: Safeguarding Brand Owners’ Rights in .XXX’, the one- off cost to the end user, set by individual registrars, is likely to be in the region of $200 to $300. The details of Sunrise B were

revealed at the International Trademark Association annual meeting in San Francisco. The paper outlines how trademark owners operating outside the adult industry can safeguard their marks in .XXX. IPRota director Jonathan Robinson commented: “This year will see the introduction of .XXX, arguably the most significant web suffix since .com was launched back in 1985. “Although the top-level domain

name - TLD - is targeted at the adult industry, its introduction in September 2011 will have far reaching implications. With tens of thousands of adult entertainment website owners already pre-reserving their domains, this white paper outlines how trademark owners’, operating outside the adult industry, can safeguard their marks in .XXX.” The document discusses how ICM Registry has developed a comprehensive rights protection mechanism (RPM) for the launch period. The company is providing an opportunity for rights owners from outside the adult entertainment industry to effectively block names at the .XXX registry so they cannot be used as conventional web addresses. This feature, provided for a one-time fee, will only be available to rights owners during the pre-launch (aka Sunrise) period. .XXX was given final approval by the

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on 18 March 2011 and grants .XXX the same rights as .com, .net and .co.uk.

Strictly Broadband MD and current AITA chair Jerry Barnett is attempting a 1,200 mile cycle ride for charity this year, in three stages. In June he will be cycling from London to Brighton (60 miles); in July he will be cycling from London to St Ives in Cornwall (320 miles); and in September he will be cycling from London to Santander in Spain (800 miles).

Jerry hopes to raise £1,000 for

Solar-Aid, a charity that provides solar equipment to projects in Africa. Jerry can be sponsored at www.justgiving.com/london- santander/
