Pattern


cream, sage green, purple and turquoise.


2. Cut two 4½” cream strips.


3. Sew strips to opposite sides of the octagon.


4. Follow the line of the angle to trim.


5. Move onto the next side. Cut six 6½” strips.


6. Sew to opposite sides.


Work around the octagon in this manner until the border is complete. Repeat with the remaining octagons.


7. Cut eight 1¾” black strips. Repeat the above with the black border.


5. Cut two 1¼” x 4½” cream border pieces and sew to both sides.


6. Cut two 1¼” x 5½” cream border pieces and sew to the top and bottom of the block.


Te first two pieces are cut for 6”. Te remainder are 7½”.


Square Blocks 1. Fussy cut five 4¼” squares.


2. Cut a 4¼” square diagonally both ways for the centre square.


3. Join both pairs of triangles with a 1” strip of black.


4. Join the pairs with a 1” strip of black. Trim to 4”, if necessary.


7. Cut two 1” x 5½” green border pieces and sew to both sides.


8. Cut two 1”x 6½” green strips and sew to the top and bottom.


For all other squares, use a different colour for each 4½” square cream, sage green, purple and turquoise.


1. Cut two 1½” x 4½” border strip. Sew to each side of the 4½” square.


2. Cut two 1½” x 6” border strip and sew to the top and bottom of the block.


3. Join the blocks together.


4. Place two octagons right sides together and sew along one edge to join. Tere is a right angle in the centre at each side.


5. Place a square block on the left hand side and stitch.


6. Sew the centre block with the cross to the right.


7. Place the remaining two octagons right sides together and sew along one edge to join.


8. Join the two sections together. Assembly of


Centre 1. Iron and tack all around the edge of the centre piece by ¼”.


2. Cut a 38½” black square.


3. Lay the centre piece on top of it. Make sure it is central. Tack the piece onto the black ensuring the layers are flat.
