Beyond Platinum Weddings: Dream Designing my own Big Day {part 2}

By Tiffany Nieves, CEO, Dream Design Weddings

Save the Date! With Mirrors?

“Platinum Weddings” featured Planner Tiffany Nieves shares her own wedding planning journey in a special 3-part series.

Whew, so much has happened since segment one. In fact, as I write this segment on the plane ride home from the West Indies (after a very successful planning and overindulgent wedding tasting trip for a client – as if I needed any more stress, I had to go consume the weight of a kindergartener in food, and I have two gowns to fit into...ugh!), it suddenly hit me. OOMMGG... I am one week away from my wedding!! I have written about it, I have talked about it, even facebooked and twittered about it, but this is the first time that it sunk in and touched me to my core – that I am truly 7 days till I DO!

With that said, and in true Tiffany style, let's back track. Last segment we left off with Save-the-Dates. After thinking about what I wanted for some time – and searching for things I liked

WED The Magazine

and not finding anything – it was a sample Save-the-Date for another bride that gave me that aha moment! I love those hit you in the head, straight out of left field moments that make some think I have severe ADD. The balance of the inspiration was an element of decor I was using throughout our wedding. It was simple yet elegant, and would certainly make a statement – a Mirror! It was brilliant! No, not a real mirror, but an oversized square silver mirrored paper with an extra thick black backing which was bevel cut, and white mounted paper printed in black ink. As a finishing touch we sent the oversized envelopes to Calligraphy by Jennifer so she could work her pretty pen magic. Our Save- the-Dates were beautiful, very different, and certainly let guests know that our wedding would be unique.
