How-To Book which goes into great detail on every subject from printed material text to budgets to help a bride plan every element step by step.

WED: Tell us about David Tutera by Faviana – what inspired you to design a gown collec- tion? What makes this collection special? As a wedding planner for more than 20 years, I have seen firsthand the holes that there are in the bridal market. From selection, to quality, to affordability and to having inspiration and a story behind the gowns, I really saw a need and I wanted to create a line with enough variety and style, at excellent price points to eliminate those problems.

I think this collection is so special because it’s really for any bride who wants to feel like a celebrity on her big day. Each gown was inspired by an actual red carpet design so the bride’s walk down the aisle is also like her walk down the red carpet!

WED: What can we expect from David Tutera by Faviana for the Fall 2011 collection? Do you have a favorite gown?

Many of the newest pieces are already available and there are several that I find especially gorgeous...I could never pick a favorite though since it depends so much on the brides who wear them!

WED: What’s next for David Tutera? I have my craft line at JoAnn’s fabrics, Down the Aisle in Style, which includes everything the DIY bride needs to embellish her special day. I am also very excited about my new jewelry line with Sears called David Tutera Bridal Jewelry Collection by Sears which includes rings, bands and necklaces. The next season of the show is also in the works...and there is more to come!

WED asked David Tutera: What advice do you have for brides – where should they start?

My advice for any bride is first to start with their budget and determine what they can comfortably spend on their celebration. Next, I suggest prioritizing the elements that matter most to the couple, whether this be the food, the flowers the fashion...whatever! These elements are the ones that should be focused on first, and given the appropriate budget. Everything else can be filled in from there!

— I find that the best organizational tool is a trusty, classic binder! One place where inspirational images, notes, contracts and business cards can be organized, stored and easily carried around.

— I tell all my brides to limit the number of ladies she invites to fittings...It’s better to choose one or two friends or family members whose opinions you truly count on to avoid confusion and hurt feelings in the fitting room!

— I suggest referring to a pre-made vendor chart that lists the standard elements needed for each wedding. This can be used as a checklist to ensure that there are no holes (like no car to drive you to the church, or a ceremony with no officiant!)! The Budget Planner in my Big White Book of Weddings is a great source for this.
