Tantivy, in Division 2, took first

place with an incredible eight points, including four first and two second place finishes over the two days. Veloce came in second with 25 points with Dos closely following in third, with 27. The J/105s, in Division 3, were led

by Jubilee in first with Jaded just three points behind in second and Allegro Vivace in third. Moving to the smaller boats on

the south course in Division 4, Pteron screamed ahead of the nine Melges 24’s to take first. In second and third were Junk Shot and Recidivist. Division 5 raced a total of nine

races over the two days. Tom Kerr’s J/33 Corvo was outstanding, taking four bullets, two seconds, a third and a fourth, earning her first with 15 points. Here and Now, Pat Denny’s J/29, came in second for the series. Third place went to Wings, the J/29 skippered by Jim Moynihan. Tom Kerr said his strategy for PSSR

was to get a good start and get out into clear air as soon as possible. Their plans changed quickly, however, when they blew the start in the first race and ended up way too deep. Tom says, “Thanks to very strong tactics on the part of Butch and Dan Weatbrook,

on, I got us to the line better each time. Overall, it was great crew work and great tactics.“ Corvo’s success is no surprise, the

crew has worked together for a long time to become a well oiled machine. Dan Weatbrook gave me some background. “The Corvo crew has roots that go back 18+ years to Tom’s first boat, the CS30 Corvus. Every year we have some folks come and some folks go, but the average tenure of the crew is usually in the 5-8 year range. Through the years we have managed to put together a crew that has an implicit level of trust and everyone knows what each other is going to do off and on the water. We often spend time together before races and on the weekends. We really are a big family, under the caring compasion of Tom Kerr.” In Division 6, a close set of nine
