Leukemia Cup Regatta June 11
Sailors from around the Pacific
Northwest will come together and raise their sails to help raise money to fight blood cancers. The Leukemia Cup Regatta (
www.leukemiacup.org/ wa) is a fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in which sailors set out on beautiful Elliott Bay for a fun- spirited race. After playing all day out on the water, everyone will meet over drinks and dinner and trade stories of their day on the water at the post-event party and auction at Elliott Bay Marina. Now in its 17th year, the Regatta is
the first race in the Downtown Sailing Series which runs throughout the summer. Skippers register their boats and recruit their friends and colleagues to help crew and raise funds. The $150 registration fee includes two tickets to the after-party that evening, an event t-shirt and a skipper swag bag. For those participants bringing their
boats from other marinas and yacht clubs, Elliott Bay Marina is offering free moorage for the night – must be reserved in advance. The top fundraisers will win great prizes for the efforts! 1st Place Prize: Two round-trip tickets on any domestic Alaska Airlines Flight 2nd Place Prize: Overnight stay at Salish Lodge 3rd Place Prize: One case of Chateau Ste. Michelle wine For a little friendly competition
between boats, the top three fundraising boats will also win prizes for their whole crew. In addition, all participants will be entered in a drawing for additional prizes awarded at the post-event party. A Fantasy Sail is an annual weekend
of sailing that is attended by all nation- wide Leukemia Cup participants who raise $8,500 or more. The weekend is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sail with and against Hall-of-Famer and ESPN sailing commentator Gary Jobson. This year’s Fantasy Sail takes place in New York Harbor in October. For more information, please visit
