• June 13-17: Elementary Methods Week – This series of single-day workshops will focus on Orff, Kodály, Dalcroze and Gordon techniques.
• June 20-24: CMP Workshop at UW-Eau Claire.
• June 20-21: Garage Band (and we don’t mean the software) – How to reach alternative students and teach music literacy through rock and roll performance techniques.
• June 27: SmartBoard Best Practices: Engaging Student Use to Broaden Achievement –This hands-on workshop is for beginners and experienced users of SmartBoards. Learn the latest research and strategies for using SmartBoards to truly engage students in the learning process.
• June 28, 29 and October 8: Student Centered Learning in the Classroom – Participants will work with presenters who are involved with in-class assessment based on the Arts PROPEL and CMP models.
• June 28-29: Make Your Instrument and Repair Budget Stretch – This hands-on workshop will teach emergency repairs for wind and string instruments, help teachers assess their instrument repair needs and give ideas on stretching repair budgets.
• July 11-12: Finale Notation Software, Level 1 – Back again by popular demand, participants will learn the basics of Finale with hands-on projects.
• July 13-14: Finale Notation Software, Level 2 – This workshop takes participants a little deeper in to the Finale program using HyperScribe entry, flashcards, Score Merger and more.
• July 18-19: SmartMusic Accompaniment Software, Levels 1 & 2 – These workshops give participants an introduction and working knowledge of the SmartMusic accompaniment software.
• July 19-21: Percussion for the Non-Percussionist – This yearly favorite has been expanded to three days. Topics covered are percussion instruments, grip techniques, percussion ensemble repertoire, marching percussion and more!

• July 25-26: Teaching Creativity and Composition Using Apple’s GarageBand. Teaching composition is one of the state standards and teaching students to find creative solutions to problems is an educational necessity teachers cannot ignore. Using Apple’s GarageBand as a tool, participants will explore ways to teach composition and the creative process.
• July 27-28: Guitar Class: Let’s Get Started – Once again Julie Goldberg from Vandercook College of Music will share how to start a guitar class when you are a novice.
• August 2-4: Developing Independent Musicians – Participants will learn practical and positive ideas and techniques for cultivating music reading, audiation, diction, elementary composition, musical memory and aural skills. Presented by Dr. Carol Krueger of Emporia State University.
• August 8-9: Innovations in Beginning Instrumental Music Instruction – This workshop is for all instrumental music teachers who desire to improve their understanding of the music learning process. Topics include instrumental readiness, tonal and rhythm syllables, improvisation, reading, composition and assessment.
• August 10-11: Guitar Ensemble Repertoire – This class will survey guitar ensemble repertoire for beginning to intermediate players. Classical, folk, pop and world music selections will be used to teach basic concepts and expand musical and technical abilities on the guitar. Some previous guitar experience required. Presented by Julie Goldberg from Vandercook College of Music.
• August 10-11: Vocal Jazz Institute – Participants will discover vocal jazz in a series of hands on workshops dedicated to improving skills and increasing confidence in teaching vocal jazz. Presented in partnership with Wisconsin Choral Directors Association.
• August 15-16: Music In Education Technology – This workshop is for teachers who are interested in the Yamaha MIE system or have inherited a Yamaha MIE system but never received official training. Participants will have hands-on experiences with both curriculum and technology.
• August 17-18: Listening, Learning and Loving It – This workshop offers participants many opportunities to experience and design active listening lessons for all ages. Breakout session will incorporate strategies for utilizing SmartBoards and other technologies.
