The Wisconsin Center for Music Education is a special destination for visitors looking to take advantage of its many offerings, ranging from workshops and col- laborative meeting space to technological tools and resources. Teacher In-Service


A group of K-8 teachers from Rockton, Illinois recently spent an in-service day at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education. Arrangements were made to meet with Mel Pontious, retired state fine arts consultant who gave a presentation on in-class assessment using the Arts PROPEL and CMP models. Conference Planning


On January 8, members of the conference planning committee met with other music educators from throughout the state to plan sessions for the Wisconsin State Music Conference. Session proposals were sent in ahead of time for the volunteer committees to assess.


Iowa-Grant High School Field Trip


On January 6, students from Iowa Grant High School guitar exploration class took a field trip to the Wisconsin Center for Music Education to attend a presentation on careers in music. In partnership with Madison Media Institute:


• Bill Malinson presented career choices available in recording. • Hanah Jon Taylor gave a talk on making music.


• Scott Guth explained the recording process and worked with students to record original compositions they had done for their class.
