AIR CITY

These facilities include two hotels with a combined 850 rooms (Hyatt Regency Incheon and a Best Western Hotel); four office buildings offering 2,500 business suites; a commercial building, and a golf course and driving range. The second phase of IBC-I development will commence in the near future. This 673,000sqm area will likely house additional hotels, office buildings, a global medical centre, retail facilities, and possibly an exhibition/meeting complex. The first phase of the airport’s Water Park (97,000sqm) has been completed southwest of the existing passenger terminal, consisting of a marina and waterfront park for water sports events and festivals.

A second phase will begin shortly which will expand the water sports and waterfront areas by 54,000sqm to include a hotel with nearby cafes, restaurants, and retail shops.

Air City’s largest commercial zone is the 3,274,000sqm IBC-II located northwest of the existing passenger terminal. This huge zone has been planned for entertainment and leisure complexes, targeted primarily to outbound tourists from China and Japan.

Investors are presently being solicited to bring in major facilities, such as Las Vegas-style casino hotels, a theme park and golf resort as well as shopping, art, nightlife and theatre venues. To provide Incheon’s passengers with quick accessibility to the commercial zones, a 6.1km magnetic levitation train system is being constructed linking the main terminal to IBC-I and the Water Park, with operation expected in 2013. The maglev train system will likely be extended to IBC-II once substantial development there is underway. This will provide full integration of ICN’s passenger and commercial components.
