twice on business trips. As a designer who has worked at several international design firms now, I understand and can appreciate what makes Incheon special for the millions of people who experience it every year. I can see clearly now why I cherish it as my favourite airport in the world. Let’s consider for a moment all of the ‘common nightmares’ that many people experience when flying internationally.


The worst is getting lost in huge international airports, not knowing where you are supposed to go, or how long it will take you to get there.


Besides feeling helplessly lost, passport control and customs sometimes make you feel like you’ve done something wrong. And sometimes you find yourself having to pass through passport control a couple of times just to make your connection.


Then there are the dirty washrooms, dark and uncomfortable seating, bland food options, and a general lack of comfort and atmosphere. Everyone can think of at least one example where they’ve had these unpleasant encounters. In contrast, Incheon is a breath of fresh air. Incheon has a very logical flow, which minimises walking distance from kerbside to airside. Amenities, such as
