Helvar
lighting at
Newham IAC A full Helvar DIGIDIM system has been installed at Newham IAC, a new indoor multi-sports arena, to manage lighting and conserve energy. Helvar worked with lighting
manufacturer Glamox and Newham Council’s electrical services department to design the scheme. The centre has been divided into lighting zones, which are individually controlled. Each area represents a particular sport and has preset lighting scenes, which can be overridden for individual operation. The DIGIDIM system manages light levels and saves energy by dimming lights (or turning them off) in areas not in use. The Glamox fittings are fitted with Helvar DALI ballasts to facilitate this feature.

Garden centre blooms with Marley Eternit
The new Mayberry Garden Centre, part of Tates of Sussex, has been clad with Marley Eternit’s Light Oak woodstain coloured fibre cement Cedral Weatherboard. The textured planks are nailed to timber battens in a ship lap configuration, which are anchored to the steel framed building. Fibre cement Cedral Weatherboard has the visual appeal of timber, without the ongoing maintenance issues. Unlike timber, it does not warp or shrink, making it an excellent long-term low maintenance solution. Cedral Weatherboard can be worked and fixed just like timber, and as a dry-fix system there’s no delay between fixing and finishing like traditional brick or rendered facades.
