Some like it hot
From sauna and steam rooms to hot tubs and spas, the latest products and technology will be on show at SPATEX 2011.
SPATEX 2011, the dedicated wet leisure exhibition, returns to the Hilton Brighton Metropole Centre for the 15th consecutive year. Running from February 5 to 7, the event will feature more than 100 companies from national and international pool, spa, hot tub and associated industries. The three-day show is driven by
innovation, new technology and products and therefore reflects the current trends in market, such as the range of increasingly technology-driven hot tubs. Spas in all sizes, shapes and with any number of gadgets including therapeutic jets, self-cleaning water and even market speakers and DVD players, will be on display demonstrating that there’s a solution for every space.
Ask the expert The Commercial Pool Operators’ Centre allows pool operators to meet exhibitors that supply products and services to the commercial sector of the pool and spa trade. The stand will be staffed by industry
experts for the duration of the show. They will provide a direct link to the participating exhibitors with the relevant products and services. Each exhibitor will nominate a technical representative who will act as the point of contact for the pool operators, providing a fast track route from the initial enquiry to the specific exhibitors and their stand location. Categories of commercial products displayed at SPATEX 2011 include chemicals, filtration, construction, hot tubs and more.
Workshops The programme of free workshops and demonstrations from the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers include 11 new titles this year. Designed for everyone from those new to the trade to seasoned professionals, the programme will run for three days with eight presentations each on Saturday and Sunday, and three specially focussed one hour presentations on Monday. Topics range from dangerous goods
legislation, leak detection and waterproofing to the advantages of using pool covers and design considerations for sauna and steam. Monday’s presentations include a practical demonstration of pool water testing using different sources of water samples. Susanne Lee and John Lee, independent consultants in environmental public health microbiology, will consider the health risks from hot tubs and look at water safety plans for leisure centres. The event brings together pool and
spa professionals from all sectors of the market, all willing to impart information, give tips and advice freely.
