Water savings at Rockliffe
GEBERIT worked with Urban Projects Bathroom Consultancy on the public washrooms at the five star Rockliffe Hall hotel and golf resort in County Durham. Throughout the complex designers chose Geberit Duofix urinal frames with infra-red flush controls, which complied with the brief from design and functionality through to water conservation and style. Geberit’s Mambo infra-red flushplates in brushed stainless steel were used with the Duofix urinal frames to create a sleek and contemporary look. Geberit’s infra-red flushing controls
save water by only flushing after each use, rather than automatically at intervals. The flush gives an average water saving of up to 60 per cent compared to traditional auto-flush systems, using typically just one litre per flush. The urinal systems can be battery and mains powered so, even if the mains fails, the urinals will continue to flush.

The eco-friendly, recycled glass finish is used on walls, bath surrounds and floor tiles Beeny’s bathroom makeover
USUALLY associated with kitchen worktops, Italian granite, quartz and recycled glass agglomerate surfaces from Granite Transformations were used for cladding walls and bath surrounds in bathrooms in a 97-room mansion in East Yorkshire. The renovation of the Grade II listed
property is the subject of TV property series, Beeny’s Restoration Nightmare. The material from Granite Transformations was used in the bridal room’s en suite facilities, two shower rooms and a flamboyant green bathroom. It also features as matching 300mm square floor tiles in all five completed rooms. Beeny felt the light weight, slim dimensions
and large slab sizes of the agglomerate material would be ideal for cladding complete bathroom walls, with no visible grout lines.

recycled glass, Trend G in Dream Green was used in the green bathroom. The bath’s fascia panel was ‘back shaved’ to remove the opaque backing material, enabling illumination from a switchable light source to shine through the translucent surface. This back-lit twinkling twilight effect contrasts with the solid Dream Green panels and tiles on the walls and floors. Trend G was used in the first shower
room, while a second shower room uses Trend R in Rosso Alpi, with its mix of brick red, rose pink, terracotta, deep brown and cloudy white. A muted Trend Q natural quartz finish in Palm Desert, was used in bridal bathroom.
