Harmony on Lake Garda
THE lighting brief for the Hotel Corte Valier resort on Lake Garda was to respect the clean and sophisticated architectural treatment of the hotel and provide overall visual comfort. Lighting designers at Arkilux and the
product design team at Whitegoods Lighting worked together on the project, which combines Whitegoods’ trimless down lights, linear lighting profiles, pendant luminaires, spotlights and concealed Cove lighting features. Halogen light is used sparingly to provide
good colour rendition, highlight and interest, while fluorescent concealed Cove features provide low glare comfort.
Whitegoods’ trimless 60mm round halogen
down lights were used in the bathrooms and communal areas. The 100mm and 60mm Linear plaster in continuous length down lights were used in the bar, lobbies and meeting rooms to provide shadow free continuous illumination. Both Edgeless Cove and Light Strip,
overlapping T5 fluorescent cove lighting systems, were used to reinforce the architecture in providing rectangular cove and coffer lighting details, edge lit details in corridors, lobbies and superior rooms.

Lightfactor goes Public
LIGHTFACTOR has installed dimming and control, plus specialist LED lighting at Public, a new bar and club in London. The lighting control is split into three
locations: the entrance, main bar/dancefloor rooms and VIP area. LightProcessor 36 channel Dimension Architectural dimmers handle all the main back and front of house lighting. Cogent FS3 RGB and other colour changing LED light sources feature in the main bar and are controlled separately via one of Cogent's new ArchiDMX units. The white LED in the bar area,
approximately 100m, is Cogent's FS3 warm white flexible strip. All the relevant white LED areas of the bar are controlled as part of a local dimmable system, so the lights come on at the correct preset level. In the VIP area, the walls above the banquette seating provide an interesting lighting feature comprising old fashioned sweet jars set in recessed compartments, all of which are edge lit with Cogent FS3 RGB colour changing LED strips. A Cogent ArchiDMX allows the room colour to be changed independently.

Illuminating latest Las Vegas entertainment mecca
AT 60,000sq ft, the Encore Beach Club and adjacent Surrender Nightclub is one of the largest indoor/outdoor destinations in Las Vegas. Created by Steve Wynn and managing partner Sean Christie, the Beach Club features 40ft palm trees surrounding three tiered pools, oversized lily pad loungers, dance pavilion shower poles, a gaming pavilion, and 26 private cabanas and eight bungalows outfitted with refrigerators and flat screen televisions. Lighting and sound specialists, John Lyons
Systems worked in tandem with Wynn and Christie to develop and showcase audio and theatrical lighting systems designed to withstand outdoor elements while delivering clear sound and great colour. The company specified multiple Pulsar ChromaHeart, ChromaScape and ChromaBatten fixtures for their elegant design, IP rating for outdoor use and high light output.

Pulsar fixtures were ideal for use in the outdoor shower dance pavilions because of their wet rating. The fixtures also offered good color power to size ratio
