venue I called Andy Stump to check out the prospects on Wildmoor Waters - a lovely, well stocked ticket fishery with good numbers of doubles and 20s, a sprinkling of good looking 30s and at least one common looking to make 40 lb in


the very near future, if not already. The weather looked good, the venue was


producing and I was keen to go and have another crack. When Andy casually dropped into conversation that he’d added two luxury lakeside lodges to Wildmoor and I could have one of those for a night it was a done deal – especially as I was going to be arriving in the dark. A night in a cabin? Not your usual winter carping experience is it? Lakeside lodges are an interesting development


in terms of commercially driven fisheries. Is fishing really going this way? Will we see a big upsurge in fishing accommodation of this nature being offered? I think so, and don’t see it as a bad thing making fishing more accessible for families and the holiday market. You’ll never convince a die hard Yateley big fish


man that it’s what carping is all about, but fishing is different things to different people, and there’s room to cater for all. Besides, being offered a bit of comfort for a winter night with 400 carp to go at out the front door isn’t something I’ll complain about!
