Lures attract pike through vibration a lot of the time, as much as by their visual properties, I imagine, and jointed lures, or lures with a wiggling tail, can bring a lot of success because they produce a lot of vibration. ‘Colour is also important. On some days a dark lures works well, whereas on others bright


orange, and other days white or yellow. You just never know, though, and it’s useful to have a wide variety. It also keeps the interest up when the fishing is hard, switching between lures regularly. It’s probably true to say that they catch more anglers than fish though,’ jokes Steve as he shows off some of his collection.
