Covepoint Capital Advisors LLC is a Global Macro Hedge Fund based in New York City and active in both emerging and developed markets, primarily in the FX and fixed income arenas. We are a small group that combines an intellec- tual and entrepreneurial culture and places a high value on informed discussion and debate. We are looking for a junior macroeconomic analyst (someone with advanced degrees in economics, finance, or international political economy) to assist us with our research process. We have a very strong preference for someone with experience in the official/mul- tilateral sector (IMF/BIS/MDBs) who has the ability to apply and extrapolate those institu- tions' techniques of surveillance of economies and financial systems. Expertise in any single region or country is obviously important, but, above all, we value flexibility and the ability to cross regional, disciplinary or asset class boundaries. Responsibilities will include monitoring eco- nomic and political events and trends in the G20 (at both the single economy and systemic level) and helping portfolio managers to devel- op investable hypotheses based on the research output. Strong analytic and presen- tation skills are a must, as the position will involve extensive interaction with the portfolio managers, current and prospective investors, governments and with the official sector. The role does not involve opportunities for portfolio management at the outset, but we expect (and would encourage) successful candidates to graduate into risk taking as well over time.
