hirley Kidd is the Housekeeping & Groundcare Manager for ARAMARK at its client, BP’s North Sea headquarters. ARAMARK carries out catering across three restaurants, housekeeping and grounds maintenance services at the offices, which is the base for 1,500 employees and operates 24 hours per

day. It is one of BP’s largest office sites in Scotland.
BP North Sea HQ has strong green ethics, which they seek to demonstrate through activities throughout the office environment. Shirley has played a key role in developing and embedding greater awareness of the environmental impacts of operational activities amongst both her ARAMARK colleagues and the employees at BP North Sea HQ. She has been heavily involved in managing the environmental impact of the production of waste at the offices and the policies and practices in general. She is the face of recycling and sustainability within the headquarters, has implemented green policies and has engaged colleagues in the process of positive change. Shirley has shown great commitment and proved to be a beacon of good environmental practice across both ARAMARK and BP North Sea HQ.
ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES Shirley has worked with the client at BP in the planning and roll out of a number of environmental campaigns. She has given input to the policies and plans for initiatives relating to: • Waste reduction • Recycling • Energy conservation • Green travel • Green procurement • Biodiversity • Composting and • Water efficiency
Having identified food waste as a
significant by-product of ARAMARK’s operations at BP North Sea HQ and a primary source of waste to landfill, Shirley investigated and identified various in- vessel systems to deal with the issue. On analysis, these were not found to be cost effective for ARAMARK or the BP client.
