SUSTAINABLE SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR – ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTS
Activeion (Europe) GmbH WINNER
A
ctiveion (Europe) GmbH, located in Baden, Switzerland, is the European subsidiary of Activeion Cleaning Solutions, LLC, headquartered in Rogers,
Minnesota, USA. Activeion is a privately held cleaning technology company created to revolutionise the cleaning industry through the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of advanced completely chemical-free cleaning technologies and products. The UK and Ireland are two of Activeion Europe’s key markets.
COMPANY MISSION – BEING A SUSTAINABLE SUPPLIER We are proud to introduce a technology that converts tap water from any faucet into a powerful, effective cleaner and germ killer without additives of any form. Our mission is to develop cleaning technologies that put people first. Our manifesto is simple: (1) You can be an enemy of dirt and a friend of people and the environment. (2) Our buildings, office premises, kitchen counters, dining tables, and all other surfaces should be truly clean and not covered with chemical residue. (3) The ones we clean for should be protected from as many cleaning chemicals as possible. (4) Our planet deserves to be a clean, healthful place to work and to live.
THE IONATOR EXP – THE ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT The ionator EXP™, slightly larger than
a trigger-spray bottle, is a handheld, on- demand, cleaning tool that activates and converts tap water into ionised water, a powerful bacteria-killing cleanser. The Activeion ionator EXP™, filled with tap water, with no added chemicals is for professional-grade cleaning and germ killing. It cleans glass, stainless steel, natural stones (granite, marble, etc.), carpet/fabrics, whiteboards, mirrors and other surfaces.
When used as directed, the ionator kills more than 99.9% of harmful bacteria, including the 2009 pandemic H1N1 influenza A virus. A US based, independent, Environmental Protection Agency-certified testing laboratory has confirmed the new cleaning technology

COMMUNICATION We are in constant communication with our clients and our local communities through various forms and media— magazines (through our articles, editorials and advertisements), blogs, social media (such as twitter, facebook and yahoo), the web, our sales force and distributors, presentations, associations, conferences, and others. We aim to keep our public continually abreast of our products and services, as well as of future product development plans. By offering facility managers the chance to join the Activieon cleaning revolution, we believe that we can involve them in critical environmental issues, first in their immediate environment but also on a larger scale. As a newly founded company, we have to constantly explain ourselves to those who want to label us as a normal or traditional cleaner alongside other cleaning products. Vis-a-vis the marketplace, our product is “out of” category. There is no competition in our sector currently, since all other cleaning products on the market contain some chemical element. The ionator is one of the only products in the world without a health warning label. This status makes our job a bit difficult at times. We have to educate users and buyers to the concept that we are playing with the physics of water, and not adding any chemicals. Accepting that one can clean efficiently and kill harmful bacteria using only water is not as easy as it sounds. One specific example is the time when a series of potential buyers contacted us about MSDS sheets. We don’t technically need a MSDS sheet because we use only water, and our device has been CE tested and certified. In the end, we had to write up a MSDS—but it’s a MSDS on water! This example also serves the purpose to show how much we try to listen to our customers and meet their needs using simple explanations and answers. Our sprayer is clear, and so are we. Clarity in communications has been a major theme or goal for Activeion from the day our
inventor and founders started showing the ionator around.
COST EFFECTIVENESS People everywhere can now clean and kill germs with the ionator on virtually any surface without having to use toxic general-purpose cleaning chemicals. With the ionator EXP, not only can you use regular tap water to clean, but you can eliminate up to 47 different types of chemical general-purpose cleaners. As a result, the repeated high expense, potentially toxic harm, and enormous packaging waste from general-purpose cleaning chemicals all can now be eliminated. The costs savings is therefore tremendous.
One of the ionator’s main features or benefits is that it helps its owner or user to reduce the costs normally involved in cleaning—from training, mixing and storage to transport, order processing and recycling. As a matter of fact, we have conducted studies with many of our clients confirming that facilities or companies can save up to 40 % on their cleaning costs and time, amortising in less than 20 weeks the cost of the device.
PARTNERSHIP We are involving other stakeholders in the industries, environmental organisations and the public on a daily basis. Each and every discussion concerns the topic of improving the way we clean, protect and save our various establishments, offices, buildings and other environments, including, on a larger scale, the world in which we live. We speak of a cleaning revolution and of Activeion “activists”, so partnership as a concept matches our business philosophy. Sustainability and corporate social responsibility ring throughout our company, top to bottom and left to right— inside and outside the company. We are in the chemical-free cleaning business and thus remain committed to all environmentally friendly and people friendly initiatives. This is evident in our careful product manufacturing, packaging and marketing programs, from recycled paper to end-of-life product policy—and is a theme in many of the relationships we build up with our own vendors and distributors.
