of Leeds behind the Civic Hall, occupied in April 2009. The brief: To implement our Sustainable Construction and Sustainability Policies, establish costs and data to inform future policies/decisions and evaluate real life experiences of sustainable living/working. Sustainable initiatives include:
Carnegie Village: • 2 townhouses certified to Passivhaus (£37,000 investment first certified building in the UK).
• BREEAM excellent achieved • High levels of insulation and airtightness
• Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation System
• Low Nox, A-rated gas condensing boilers
• Low water use aerated taps and showers
• ‘A’ rated Green Guide materials • Full, low energy lighting/passive infrared (PIR) to common areas
• WRAP assessment 16.5% recycled content. Original target of 10%.
• 5,000 tonnes of demolition waste reused on site
