ITINERARY
In Florence we meet for a fun afternoon before settling into our villa-turned-hotel in Chianti (6 nights). Every day, there’s something interest- ing for everyone. The kids get their hands dirty crafting terra cotta pots by hand. We’ll step back in time with a very cool visit to San Gimignano. In the Chianti hills, the adults end a vineyard walk with a home-cooked lunch at Castello della Paneretta (while we entertain the kids).
A day’s excursion to Lucca includes a bike ride they’ll never stop talking about…and time for you to go shopping. Later see who can hold up the leaning tower of Pisa. Whether we’re tossing pizza dough…retracing the wild Palio horse race through the streets of Siena… or inviting the adults to a wine-tasting while the kids are gelato-tasting just as seriously, every day is different and special until we part company back in Florence.

We meet in Avignon for a kid-friendly stroll to the awesome Papal Palace, then head for our 18th century château (6 nights). While the adults explore the colorful market and take an easy walk to Séguret, the kids dig in making pottery at a nearby village. Later, while you go wine tasting, our guides supervise the younger set as they climb around castle ruins. A friend invites us into her kitchen for a lesson in provençal cooking and lunch. Later, we all enjoy a walk through apricot groves past a monastery where we hear monks chanting.
San Gimignano
We’ll stroll to the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct that soars overhead as the start of a family kayaking excursion. Near Lourmarin, we walk among lavender fields to Sénanque Abbey, where your budding Impressionists present you with paintings they created this morning. Among other family-friendly activities we’ll see how olives are harvested and crushed…and walk in Cézanne’s footsteps through Aix-en-Provence.
