ITINERARY

We meet in Naples (1 night) and start with a walk around the castle’s ramparts and dinner at one of our guide’s favorite restaurants.

Milan

We reach the island of Ischia by hydrofoil and settle into our spa-hotel (2 nights). The kids create their own pottery with the same mud used by the ancient Greeks, then enjoy the pool and eat early; the adults walk to a quaint fishing village and dine on a candlelit terrace.

Back on the mainland, we journey to Mt. Vesuvius for an awesome walk on the crater’s rim before checking into our cliff-clinging hotel along the Amalfi Coast (3 nights). In Positano, you’ll find the shopping is sensational. After a walk in the “valley of the mills” the kids try their hands at medieval paper-making while you see how limoncello, the local lemon liqueur, is made. (The kids may be interested to know that the nearby village of Amalfi has a gelato shop on each corner of its square.)

We’ve set aside a full day to explore Capri. While the kids try their hands at ruba bandiera, there’s time for adults to explore Villa San Michele—followed by a glamorous beachside lunch at Marina Piccola. On our final day we tour the fabled excavations at Pompeii with an archeologist-friend before parting company in nearby Naples.
