NEW STORE CAN-CAN INDULGE CUSTOMERS

With the opening of the chain's latest store at 215 Brompton Road, London coinciding with France's Bastille Day (July 14), Patisserie Valerie staff celebrated in continental style by dressing up as can-can girls and offering customers their own entente cordiale. The store was dressed in the French tricolour hues of red, white and blue for a three-day period of celebrations, which included the production of special limited edition cakes in the company's indulgence range. And art lovers had the opportunity to indulge their wallets with a special in-store exhibition by local artists. Said Patisserie Valerie chief executive officer Paul May:

"We pride ourselves on being different and innovative both in our food and indulgence offerings - and also the way that we plan to surprise and entertain our customers. We felt that many current themed occasions such as Valentines Day have become over-commercialised and tired, and the new opening gave us the opportunity to do something different." Patisserie Valerie already has 26 outlets in London and newly opened cafés in Bath, Canterbury, Cambridge, Leeds and Wolverhampton.

BEACHFRONT CAFÉ OPPORTUNITY

Looking to expand, or start up your own café? Humberts Leisure has been instructed by Hastings Borough Council to market the proposed new café/restaurant premises which will form part of an £8.5 million cultural-led regeneration of the former beachfront Stade coach and lorry park in Old Town Hastings, East Sussex. Work is currently underway to transform the site into a fantastic new public space for events, festivals and informal use, alongside a new art gallery. The proposed café is very prominently positioned within the development. Once completed it will take up approximately 200 sq m (2,150 sq ft) providing in the region of 60 internal covers and external seating for 18 covers. The council is reasonably flexible in terms of the structure of the deal and at this stage will be offering the premises either on shell basis or a fully fitted basis by way of a commercial lease.
