Got worms? You should! Vermicomposting takes very little space and is an incredibly easy and effective way to reduce your household waste while producing rich compost. The best part is that worms do all of the work! During this informal discussion, Shannon Forsythe will share the lessons she has learned from vermicomposting both at Lyman Woods and at home. She’ll share information about the different types of vermicomposters, what (not) to do, and how to build your own worm farm right in your home. Program is free, but pre-registration is required. FREE! Join the DuPage Birding Club for a guided bird walk to search for birds at Lyman Woods! The walks leave from the front porch of the Interpretive Center. Bring the whole family for some tree-trimming fun at Lyman Woods! We’ll learn all about winter birds while we create homemade ornaments that double as bird feeders. Afterwards, take a guided hike to explore the winter woods and decorate the evergreen trees with your handmade ornaments. Warm up indoors after your hike with hot cocoa and a winter story. OUTDOOR NATURE EXPLORATIONS Explore the great outdoors by taking part in a program at Lyman Woods! Portions of programs will be held outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather. In case of inclement weather, classes will be held indoors. Shorts, sandals, and strollers are discouraged. In the rare event that a class is canceled due to severe weather, we will attempt to contact you as soon as possible.
