PERFORMING ARTS
Guitar Lessons This class is designed for beginning through advanced guitar players. Each student must have a guitar in playing condition. Handouts are used to teach popular songs. Students learn to read music from the Mel Bay Guitar Method Series.
Piano Lessons This program is designed for beginning through advanced piano players. Students are taught to read and perform pieces from the John W. Schaum Piano Series. Each student is instructed based on completion of previous levels and instructor approval. Students also study music theory by completing special assignments.
Violin Lessons This program is designed for beginning through advanced violin players. Each student must have a violin (sized to fit the student), a bow and rosin. The method book is Muller Rusch Violin Series. Students are taught musical notation, bowing and care of the instrument through a combi- nation of aural and tradi- tional reading approaches.
Voice Lessons This program is designed for beginning through advanced vocal performers. Students are taught proper warm-ups and breathing techniques while learning how to sing correctly in their vocal range.
Percussion Lessons This program is designed for beginning through advanced percussion players. A variety of percussion instruments including drum set, hand drums and snare drums in various genres including jazz, funk, rock and Latin style drumming.

This Academy has been created to bring a well-rounded yet affordable arts program to the Downers Grove community. The program is designed to challenge both the novice and seasoned artist in various areas from music to dance to cultural arts. Performing arts classes are offered in numerous string and percussion instruments as well as voice along with our year-round dance program. Cultural arts classes for both youth and adults are offered in drawing, ceramics, painting and culinary arts along with various other art classes. Our goal is to provide a fun, safe and nurturing environment while sparking creativity in all of our students.

Returning Resident Registration
2010 summer music students currently enrolled have the first opportunity to renew their time slot for the 2010 fall season.
Resident registration for percussion, voice, piano, guitar and violin begins on Saturday, July 31 at 8:30 am at Lincoln Center. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Nonresidents may register for available openings on a walk-in basis beginning Monday, August 2.
Students may register for private lessons for an additional fee. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment are canceled and students are asked to select another available time or offered private lessons for an additional fee. No class November 22 - 25, 27, December 20 - 23, 25, 27 - 30 and January 1. Age:
*5 - 18 years/Piano 7 & up/Percussion 8 - 18 years/Guitar & Violin 10 & up/semi & private voice
m/M: 2/2 *Piano classes are open to 5-year-old students who have completed one session of Early Learner Piano Lessons.
Lesson books are sold in the Lincoln Center Registration Office. On the first day of class the instructor informs student on which level book to purchase.

Music Recital
Family and friends can enjoy the music students’ performance at a recital scheduled at Lincoln Center on Thursday, January 27 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm.
