Hunter Safety Education State-certified volunteer educators teach the basics of safe hunting, including hunter responsibility, wildlife management, firearm, ammunition and archery safety, first aid and survival techniques. Passing a Hunter Safety class is required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1980 who want an Illinois hunting license. This course also meets the requirements for adult hunters in many other states. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 16. You must attend all classroom sessions and pass a written exam to receive a certificate. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend with their children. Basic Dog Obedience Positive reinforcement methods keep tails wagging while dog owners learn to prevent and modify inappropriate behavior. Basic commands of sit, down, stay, come, walk on leash and more are covered. Class is conducted through lectures and demonstrations; where having fun is key to learning.
