vendor bio - lily bee design

F

ounder and designer, Kristen Young, dreamed of owning her own paper company when she first began working

at her LSS in 1995. With over 15 years experience, within the scrapbooking industry, working as an instructor, store manager, and sales representative, combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to take the plunge.

Kristen wanted her company name to have meaning, and instantly thought of her great grandmother, Lillie Berrett. Lily Bee Design debuted in February 2009.

French Couture and Three Little Birds were the first lines to be released, and even without attending Winter CHA they became an overnight success.

Kristen wanted to put a spin on embellishments already seen on the market. Lily Bee introduced 12x12 Rub-ons and Die- Cut frames featuring four different 6x6 shapes. Both became instant favorites among scrappers.

In addition to owning her own company, Kristen also aspired to be that company’s designer. Without any graphic design experience, she jumped in feet first in the summer of 2009,

and hasn’t looked back. Still with much to learn, she is thrilled to be designing her own lines: Vintage Poppy, Audrey, and the two newest lines, Hello Sunshine, and Lovely, which are receiving rave reviews and plenty of excitement from consumers.

Lily Bee’s collections are price point driven. The collections feature double-sided papers, and include just enough embellishments to coordinate, making it affordable for stores to carry the entire collection. Lily Bee’s style is vintage inspired and fast becoming a new favorite among scrappers.

Kristen is so grateful for the opportunity to own Lily Bee, and excited to see the company grow during 2010. Growing her business also allowed Kirsten to grow many new friendships along the way, from store owners to designers, and most importantly, consumers throughout the world.

Becoming an entrepreneur is important, but Kristen is first and foremost, a mother to Noah (4) and Madden (2) who definitely keep her on her toes. She is grateful for her supportive husband Carson, who thinks its “awesome” that she is pursuing her dream.
