Thin film solar module TF Multi Professional

I-V Curve Tracer
Dr. Schenk GmbH, leading "total-solution provider" of metrology systems for thin-film PV modules, has installed more than 50 inspection and measurement systems within the past 3 years. Dr. Schenk‘s specialized solutions for virtually every processing step along the line are unmatched in the industry.
With the launch of the I-V Curve Tracer in Q3 2009, has taken the next step in thin-film metrology.
"Indirect metrology tests", for example the measurement of pinhole density, layer thickness or haze monitoring, enable the manufacturer to evaluate the module quality and give an early warning as soon as a process step no longer meets the preset tolerances. These measurements alone cannot make a prediction about the final electrical efficiency of the solar panel. As today‘s sun simulators or flashers are installed only at the very end of the production line, Dr. Schenk has developed a unique innovation that is complimentary to flashers but enables an early feedback on the module efficiency!
As flashers are installed at the end of the production line, a module with low efficiency can only be sorted out after complete processing. Integrated before the lamination step Schenk‘s I-V Curve Tracer enables manufacturers to sort out faulty products before the module is sent on to cost intensive back-end steps.
system TF Multi Professional can be installed on existing roofs.
The new design is an on-roof mounting system in combination with Unisolar laminates. It consists of a 5600 mm long and 455 mm wide folded aluminium profile sheet onto which thin-film laminates are permanently applied at an inclination of eleven degrees.
Due to the elevation, the system can generate significantly higher yields than flatly mounted systems. Mounting is achieved with the help of a top-hat rail which can be installed on virtually any synthetic roofing membrane. Roof penetration is not required. Another advantage of TF Multi Professional is its low weight: at only five kilogramms per square meter, the system is also suitable for lightweight constructions with low load reserves.
The system features a nominal power output of 144 Wp. The Unisolar laminates consist of triple-junction solar cells that generate exceptional yields even at high temperatures or under diffuse lighting conditions.
Whereas a flasher test only delivers one efficiency result for the entire panel, the I-V Curve Tracer measures space-, wavelength-and irradiance-resolved and can, thus, identify the exact position or cell of an irregularity.
By matching these detailed efficiency results with data from the indirect measurements along the production line, manufacturers can make immediate and long-term correlations between local defects and panel efficiency. These not only enable immediate corrective actions but also the definition and optimization of process criteria - and by this reduce production costs.
