SUCCESSFUL H1 FOR MUCKLE LLP’S GROWING REAL ESTATE TEAM
The Muckle Real Estate team M
uckle LLP’s award winning Real Estate team is celebrating a successful first half of 2018, having grown its team and continued to work on some of the region’s most significant projects.
The North East’s leading independent law firm for businesses has one of the largest commercial property teams in the region, which has enabled Muckle to handle numerous major real estate projects simultaneously. Its lawyers have been advising Newcastle University on its
landmark Science Central project, a £350m
development which is currently underway, as well as McAleer & Rushe’s
redevelopment of the Newgate Centre.

In addition,
Muckle is involved in many other
major projects across the North East. Significant developments include Sunderland’s inspirational Culture Quarter and Amethyst Homes’ extensive Regents Park regeneration in Consett. The firm’s focus on key regional projects particularly impressed the judges at last year’s Insider North East Property

Awards, where Muckle was crowned Property Law Firm of the Year. Judges also hailed the firm’s broad range of specialisms, including separate Social Housing and Real Estate Dispute Resolution teams. In March 2018 the group’s diverse expertise was given a further boost with the launch of its new Agriculture, Estates and Rural Property team, led by partner David Towns. Unlike most national law firms, the Real Estate team at Muckle works in one Newcastle based office, on one floor, together with all the firm’s other specialist lawyers. It’s a feature which the business feels is crucial to maintaining its reputation as a highly responsive law firm, based on the premise that working across departments is easier and quicker face to face.
Over the last 12 months, the wider Real Estate team has continued to grow with a number of senior appointments, including partner Libbie Henderson, who formerly led Watson Burton’s real estate team. Muckle has also recruited another partner, a senior associate and three associates into its commercial property department. Jonathan Combe, partner and head of real estate at Muckle, said: “The growth in headcount has supported a growth in instructions, which led to a successful end to the last financial year and an incredibly busy first half of 2018. It is fantastic to see this continued growth, particularly as the
majority of Muckle LLP’s clients are based within the region.
“It’s our goal to be regarded as the law firm of choice for North East businesses, and we now offer the complete package for any organisation that needs commercial property legal support. “Our clients now benefit from a truly universal Real Estate team, with specialist sub-teams dedicated to development, construction, property finance, social housing, real estate dispute resolution and now agriculture and rural property. “We pride ourselves on providing
efficient service and genuinely expert advice, while always responding to clients’ needs as quickly as possible. “The range of dedicated experts we have equips us to do that exceptionally well, as we can offer clients a one-stop- shop experience and support them with true specialists in virtually every aspect of property law.”
