Business intelligence Tandridge District Council has received a planning application from developers St William for the re-development of the gasholder and Johnsdale car park sites in Oxted. The application is for 111 apartments across three buildings with three to seven storeys. To view the planning application, visit www.tandridge.gov.uk and search for planning application ref: 2018/729. More information on the project is available at www.oxtedgasholder.co.uk. Work has begun on the next phase of The Square refurbishment programme in Camberley. Prince of Wales Walk, the central square and Cambridge Walk will receive new fascias, floors, signage and lighting. The central square will be given a makeover, including a dramatic new focal point lighting feature. The shopping centre was purchased by Surrey Heath Borough Council in November 2016 in a deal worth £86 million.

Midas Construction has been appointed on a new office development in Guildford. Work is now under way on River Works; a £6.5 million, three-storey office building. The development is located off Mary Road within walking distance of Guildford railway

station. Guildford-based water technologies

company Modern Water has entered into a £500,000 loan agreement with Barclays Bank. The loan deal was unveiled alongside results for 2017. Revenue at Modern Water fell 3% to £3.5 million and pre-tax losses increased to £5.2 million (up from £2.6 million in 2016). Egham-headquartered Spectris has

acquired US-based automotive test system and service provider Revolutionary Engineering for £13.5 million. Spectris bought the business on a debt-free and cash-free basis from company management.

Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport Mike Goodman has welcomed the timetable improvements made by South Western Railway. Surrey County Council worked with the train company on making changes. The new website for Sussex and East Surrey Sustainability & Transformation Partnership (STP) has gone live. The site highlights the joint work of the 24 organisations who are part of the STP. A manor house hotel in Horley has been acquired by a new owner. Stanhill Court Hotel is set in 35 acres of gardens

overlooking the South Downs National Park. The new owner, an established Kent- based operator, is planning to invest heavily in Stanhill Court.

The transformation of Gatwick Airport station has moved a step closer after a planning application was submitted. Network Rail has submitted proposals to reduce congestion and improve passenger experience at the station, which serves 19 million passengers a year – up from 7.5 million 20 years ago. The proposals aim to reduce crowding at the station, improve passenger flow and provide better connections between the railway station, airport terminals and onward travel destinations.

Surrey County Council’s Cabinet has approved the award of a contract for work at the Meadows roundabout in Camberley. The work, aimed at cutting congestion and boosting economic growth, is expected to start in the summer.

The county council has given an update on the work taking place on Surrey’s roads, including information on a scheme in Guildford to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists and a progress report on the Runnymede roundabout scheme to reduce congestion.
