Talent can now be accessed anywhere in the world for one. “We set up extremely quickly to accommodate remote working, which has facilitated greater collaboration between our global studios and broken down location- based barriers, giving us access to a greater pool of talent,” says MPC. As Cinesite says, remote working
offers the “flexibility to scale up our teams beyond the capacity of our
studios or outside of the cities Cinesite operates in. Productions can be more mobile, establishing visual effects outposts anywhere in the world to maximise tax incentives.” There is a far greater chance of
securing work from clients not based in the UK. “Technology and remote working has opened up the global market more than ever,” says No.8. Yellow Moon too says that “given that a lot of our business comes from overseas we can see huge advantages to continuing certain aspects of that remote workflow.” And for those based outside the capital, there are opportunities. “With the success of cross-site and remote working the industry will continue moving to being less London Centric,” says Axis. The opportunities are there to be
grasped by the UK’s post production industry, as long as it can move fast enough to catch them.
