Cloud and Virtualisation
Flexibility and speed “Cloud and virtualisation is at the core of our demos, Our facility has always been underpinned by a co-location in a nearby data centre, and is built on public and private cloud platforms to deliver hybrid flexibility leveraging vendors such as AWS, Azure and Nutanix. That means we can demonstrate just how effective virtualisation and PCoIP technology can be as we showcase different media and entertainment use cases at the facilities. We’re also pairing this with NDI or Streambox products for preview and monitoring. The combination of these allows us to help businesses understand the speed and workflow benefits of cloud-based solutions.
“As an example, our desktop zero client demo can show off the performance of a virtual editor in the data centre, in the cloud or in a physical workstation that’s situated miles away from the user. It’s impressive stuff and something which you can only really appreciate when you see it at work in front of you, or better yet, when you get your hands on it and try it for yourself. For anyone looking at enabling remote creatives who are further afield, we also have a live LucidLink Filespace allowing multiple tracks of video can be streamed out of cloud storage for editorial. When it comes to the cloud, there are so many use cases across video workflows, and we’re perfectly positioned to put them to the test for you.”
Graham McGuinness, Head of Technical Architecture
Audio
Sound at its very best “Our demo facilities in the experience centre have been designed to showcase sound at its very best. When it comes to audio there really is nothing that can substitute being right there feeling the power of the technology. The experience centre boasts pro audio driven by Avid Pro Tools Ultimate, the industry standard for pro workflows, coupled with Mac Pro, HDX and MTRX. The room itself has a 7.1.4 JBL speaker configuration which gives spectacular demonstrations of Dolby Atmos soundscapes, plus the option of more conventional 7.1, 5.1 and stereo sessions.
“The audio system is built around the cutting edge 16 fader Avid S6 mixing console with an additional S4 for demonstration purposes. The Avid MTRX audio interface (our preferred for demos but one of many options) is loaded with almost every kind of format, including analogue, AES, MADI and Dante. This allows for compatibility and integration with virtually any external option, which makes it the perfect facility for demonstrating pro audio tech as well as training, research and development.”
