DYNAMIC’S AUTUMN INVESTMENT IN MORE SONY VENICES
The Right Investment for
In September this year, Dynamic Rentals bought five more Sony VENICEs from CVP to bring their inventory to over 50 units. Tom Jay Smith and Brandon Zachary explain the rationale behind this purchase.

THINK SUB-RENTAL THINK LONG-TERM THINK DYNAMIC
Tom Jay Smith Chief Sales Officer Dynamic Rentals
With the constant evolution of digital cinematography cameras, there seems to be a new camera set to change the world every six months. Most of these cameras do not stand the test of time or find a following enough to set it apart from the others. Although the Sony VENICE was originally launched in September 2017, it came with a well-engineered modern 6K sensor and Sony have worked hard to continually develop the camera in the intervening years - we’re now on Firmware version 5.02 - and the demand keeps growing. Most of that demand is coming
from longform, both high-end TV and features, where the camera is gaining a lot of traction from cinematographers. There are many reasons for this demand varying
from the camera’s form factor to the exceptional 16bit linear X-OCN recording format and its exceptional performance in low-light with the dual 500 and 2500 ISO. The Rialto Extension System – the one with the umbilical cord - is also a clever option for tight spaces, gimbals and handheld work. It also has the seal of approval from Netflix, Amazon, IMAX and the Soho colourists too. At Dynamic we must be intelligent
about the cameras we invest in. They have to reflect market demand and we need to believe in the camera’s longevity in our industry. We had no doubts about investing in the Sony VENICE. In fact, we purchased multiple VENICEs when it first released back in 2017 and have been growing our inventory with more cameras ever since. We now have over 50 VENICEs & over 15 Rialto Extensions with more to follow. We always go to CVP as our
first port of call when buying digital cinema cameras and lenses. They know the market well, they realise having stock on the shelf is important and they always go the distance to make the deal work for us. CVP are a great bunch of guys that have made Dynamic’s expansion into the UK/ Europe possible and I couldn’t see taking Dynamic’s sales business anywhere else.
WE HAD NO DOUBTS ABOUT INVESTING IN THE SONY VENICE
